A Merry Little YA Christmas

Beautiful decor set put us in the Christmas spirit at the Boothe's
As the fall semester drew to a close and as the snow began to lay across the ground, all of us Young Ambassadors traveled through the cold to Randy's warm and welcoming home to have a merry little YA Christmas together.

Coming through the door we could all smell the wonderful aroma of roast beef and mashed potatoes. After a long rehearsal the enticing smell of food was certainly welcome. But before we could dig into our savory dinner, with a little help from Randy, we all played some of our favorite Christmas songs with the Boothe's chimes. Each of us were given one to two chimes, and then Randy would direct us with a large poster with all the notes written on it. Listening to songs that we were creating with no practice or rehearsal was neat for everyone to hear.

Chime Caroling was fun, challenging, and quite spirited!
As the chime caroling drew to a close it was time for dinner. Susan as usual put on an excellent feast that we enjoyed thoroughly. We had a tasty combination of roast beef, mashed potatoes, salad and Susan's special seven layer jello. This inch and a half delicacy sported more colors than a tropical bird in the rain forest or in one bag of skittles. As one person tasted it, they said they could definitely taste the rainbow.

When we all had stuffed ourselves to the brim, Randy took his place at the piano and performed some of the various Christmas songs that he and Susan had written over the years. Before he would play each song he would tell us about the meaning and the story behind each song. By the end of the night Randy was able to share with us through his songs the many different parts of Christmas. From Christmas shopping to the Savior’s birth and from Christmas quilts to Joy and Peace on earth, we were all able to explore and be reminded of the joy and fun that Christmas brings us each year. At the conclusion of Randy's program we all had dessert and were able to say our last good bye's to each other before we left for Christmas vacation.

It was a fun night. With the food, the games and especially the good friends; at the end of a long and rewarding semester we were able to have a merry little YA Christmas together.
